Live streaming from WA of the Robert French AC Oration – 20 July 2022

The Hellenic Australian Lawyers Association WA Chapter, in conjunction with the the Asian Australian Lawyers Association and the WA Society of Jewish Jurists and Lawyers, will stream online the 2022 Robert French AC Oration, to be presented by Justice Craig Colvin of the Federal Court.

HAL members from other state Chapters are invited to view the Oration, to be streamed from 5:30PM WA time (7:30PM in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania, and 7:00PM in South Australia and the NT) on Wednesday 20 July 2022 from the old Supreme Court building in Perth.

The Oration topic is: “There runs the quick perspective of the future: What next for the courts?”

HAL members are invited to attend the Oration, to be held from 5:15PM for 5:30PM on Wednesday 20 July 2022 at Court One, (old Supreme Court), Stirling Gardens, corner Barrack Street and St. Georges Terrace, Perth.

SA: ‘Ethics, Character and the Solicitors’ Conduct Rules: How Aristotle’s approach may lead to better outcomes’ – 24 March 2022

The Hellenic Australian Lawyers Association is pleased to invite members to an interactive presentation by Bill Fragos, Special Counsel, Moray & Agnew.

The presentation is entitled “Ethics, Character and the Solicitors’ Conduct Rules: How Aristotle’s approach may lead to better outcomes”.

It will be conducted on Thursday 24 March 2022 from 5:15pm in person at Wallmans Lawyers, Level 5, 400 King William Street Adelaide SA from 5:15 pm Adelaide Time.

The matters covered include how different ethical approaches can lead to very different outcomes for issues confronting lawyers. Attendees will derive benefit from attending this interactive session, which poses some interesting ethical questions that practitioners may encounter both in, and outside, the course of practice.

We note that there is a maximum capacity of 40 persons able to attend due to current COVID restrictions. Additionally, all attendees to Wallmans Lawyers must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and on arrival will be required to present Medicare proof of vaccination.

Bill Fragos is a Special Counsel at Moray & Agnew. Bill appears in matters at all levels of the Court system across Australia, including before the High Court, the Federal Court and, in particular, the Supreme Courts of NSW, Victoria and South Australia. Bill advocates for clients in the areas of competition and consumer law, administrative law and regulatory matters, insolvency, financial services and corporations law matters. This experience is complemented by the provision of front-end advice in relation to competition law issues, consumer law matters, as well as privacy, technology and cyber-security.

Bill’s depth of experience has led to him being instructed by other lawyers regarding ethical issues, as well as in relation to claims against lawyers.
