QLD: HAL Qld Chapter Freeleagus Oration by The Hon Justice David Boddice – 22 Nov 2023

The Queensland Chapter of the Hellenic Australian Lawyers Association is delighted to invite you to the 2023 Clayton Utz Alexander Freeleagus Oration.

We are honoured to have the Hon Justice David Boddice of the Queensland Court of Appeal deliver a paper on the topic, “Can Stoic virtues help modern lawyers meet their ethical obligations?”

The Oration will be held at Clayton Utz’s offices at Riparian Plaza on Wednesday, 22 November 2023 from 5:30pm.

After his Honour’s paper, we welcome you to join us for drinks & canapés until 8pm, which will be a wonderful opportunity to engage with colleagues and the HAL community in the lead up to the festive season.

SA: the 2023 John William Perry AO QC Oration with the Hon. Stephen Gageler – 27 Oct 2023

The SA Chapter of the Hellenic Australian Lawyers (SA Chapter) is pleased to invite you to the 2023 John William Perry AO QC Oration in Adelaide on Friday 27 October 2023 – Proudly supported by DMAW Lawyers, WRP Legal & Advisory and Wallmans Lawyers.

The HAL Oration is an annual dinner celebrating the life and contribution of the late Honourable Justice John William Perry, who was the first Justice of the Supreme Court of South Australia of Hellenic background, and served the Court for 19 years.

The Oration is to be delivered by the Honourable Justice Stephen Gageler AC, Justice of the High Court of Australia on the topic of “Democracy and Reason”.

When: Friday, 27th October 2023.

The oration by the Honourable Justice Gageler AC will begin from 6.00pm for a 6.15pm start. Following this, the formal seated dinner will commence from 7.15pm.

Tickets include a three-course banquet and premium drinks.

$150 for HAL Members, Cost is $170 for Non-Members, and $125 for Students.

NSW & ACT: Constitutional Recognition and The Voice – 21 June 2023

The New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory Chapters of the Hellenic Australian Lawyers Association are hosting an event and presentation on Wednesday, 21 June 2023 from 6pm to 9pm at the Beta Grand, Level 2, 238 Castlereagh Street, Sydney NSW.

The presentation is by Mr Danny Gilbert, Managing Partner of Gilbert & Tobin and also the co‑Chair of Australians for Indigenous Constitutional Recognition – the Yes 23 campaign on Constitutional Recognition and The Voice.

The Honourable A.S. Bell, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New South Wales will be in attendance and will give an address.

The presentation will be followed by canapes and drinks.
