SA: Practical Greek Law

  • 11 February, 2016
  • Wallmans Lawyers, Level 5, 400 King William Street

There  are  many  legal  and  practical  issues  facing  Australians  who own property  in  Greece.  The  issues  are  of  particular  concern  to  the   older generation when it comes to  matters of succession, as well as for their adult children who will need to eventually deal with their parent’s wishes in relation to that property.

Those issues  give rise to a need for Australian lawyers (with such clients) to have an understanding of  the  key differences as between Australian  and Greek law with regards to:

  • inheritances and real estate issues that arise Greece;
  • appropriate ways to service Australian clients with properties in Greece (eg. wills, marital assets distribution, joint ownership, judicial system); and
  • dealing with Greek lawyers to achieve outcomes.
