The amazing Yugambeh Youth Choir & celebrated Indigenous musician William Barton will perform at Christmas Drinks and a Fundraiser for the Yugambeh Museum, Language & Heritage Research Centre to be hosted by the Queensland Chapter of the Hellenic Australian Lawyers Association on 9 December.
Guests are invited to end the year by enjoying drinks and canapes, whilst listening to the performances. Profits from ticket sales will be donated to the Yugambeh Museum, Language & Heritage Research Centre.
The Museum aims to collect and maintain items and intellectual property that showcase the language, history and culture of the traditional Aboriginal people of the Yugambeh region. As a Regional Language Centre, the Museum works collaboratively with Aboriginal communities to record and revitalise the land’s languages.
The Yugambeh Youth Choir is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander choir consisting of youth under the age of 25 years. William Barton has performed with many of the great orchestras of the world, including the Berlin Philharmonic, having been described by the conductor of that orchestra, Sir Simon Rattle, as “one of the greatest virtuosos”.
