Professor Josiah Ober

The NSW Chapter of Hellenic Australian Lawyers Association is pleased to announce that Professor Josiah Ober, Mitsotakis Professor of Political Science and Classics at Stanford University, will deliver this year’s Chapter Oration.

Professor Ober will speak on the topic “The Origins of Social Order: self-interest, rationality and the common good”.

The Professor works on the history of institutions and on legal and political theory, with an emphasis on democracy and on the political thought and practice of the ancient Greek world.

It will be held from 6pm on Monday 18 November 2019 at Sparke Helmore Lawyers, Level 29, MLC Centre, 19 Martin Place, Sydney.

The Oration will be followed by a reception at which drinks and canapes will be served.

There is no charge for this particular event, but registrations are essential.  There are  limited spaces for this event so register early.

Any person who supports the purposes of the Association who is of Hellenic background, or if not of Hellenic background is a philhellene, is eligible for membership.
