The Victorian Chapter of Hellenic Australian Lawyers Association is pleased to announce that Professor Josiah Ober, Mitsotakis Professor of Political Science and Classics at Stanford University, will deliver this year’s Chapter Oration.
Professor Ober will speak on the topic “Lessons from the ancient Greeks on relations between States – the limits of rational behaviour”.
The Professor works on the history of institutions and on legal and political theory, with an emphasis on democracy and on the political thought and practice of the ancient Greek world.
It will be held from 6pm on Thursday 28 November 2019 at The RACV Club, Level 2 Bayside Room 4, 501 Bourke Street Melbourne.
The Oration will be followed by a reception at 7pm at which drinks and canapes will be served.
HAL members and students are free, cost for HAL non-members is $25.
Registrations are essential. There are limited spaces for this event so register early.
